It’s Monday. There are less than two weeks until Santa comes. Many of us wish it would actually snow already since some of our bank accounts depend on it. For others, like RyanB, they wish the snow would stay away so they can continue to drive their well lowered, summer wheel and tire equipped cars. That being said, I will warn you now, the most exciting thing about today’s rundown is the announcement of the winner of our SEMA Swag Pack contest. Let’s Begin…..
The Formula 1 season is over, but with all the hoopla surrounding the end of the season there was an ‘issue’ in Texas that was possibly going to affect the 2012 race calendar. It looked for a brief moment that Bernie wasn’t going to receive his $25 million bond to secure the race on the schedule. Apparantly the local state government was holding out on covering the fee or something like that. Anyway, everything is cool. The race will go on as planned, as long as they get that race track thing finished in time…..

I wanted to share with you results from the annual Race of Champions event in Dusseldorf Germany last Monday but details were limited and I figured I should just wait. The most interesting thing to me about this event is that Team USA was comprised of Travis Pastrana and Brian Deegan. I will start off by saying Pastrana is a ‘good’ driver. I think he has more guts than brains which may lead to him taking more calculated risks and in turn edging a smarter/better driver out. I like Travis and we will leave it at that. Mr. Deegan on the other hand, what the hell? There are dozens upon dozens of better suited drivers out there. I am sure if Tanner Foust wasn’t driving supercars this past weekend while shooting Top Gear he would have made the Americans proud.
Enough of my ranting. The Nation’s Cup portion of the event was won by the German ‘Dream Team’ of Michael Shumacher and Sebatien Vettel. Between the two of them they only have nine Formula One Championship seasons and Vettel is just getting started.
In the Champion of Champions (individual) event it was a different story. Sebastien Ogier of France managed to out drive the field and takes the trophy home this year.
Here is a little video recap of the days events:

Last Monday I shared a nice looking video of Subaru’s entry in next year’s GT300 SuperGT series. Well they are going to have to compete with Toyota and their secret weapon…….
……. Prius. Yes that is correct. Apparently Toyota will be campaigning a Prius in SuperGT. At least the crude rendering looks cool.

It seems that Nissan Headquarters isn’t too happy with Nissan UK dreaming up the Juke-R. Apparently the Juke-R was a covert project that Nissan Headquarters in Japan didn’t know about and probably wouldn’t have approved of. Who cares. That thing is the only good thing going for the Juke name. Juke-R Dakar? Come on Nissan, do what’s right!

Speaking of Dakar. We are only 3-weeks away from the world’s most famous rally-raid. Still no clue if we will get it on TV here in Canada so you may have to do the torrent thing to follow this year’s event.
Some interesting news surfaced this week about last years ‘Car Class‘ winner Nasser Al-Attiyah. Last year Nasser won in a Volkswagen Toureg. This year Volkswagen isn’t factory supporting any teams so Nasser was without a ride to compete with. Enter American off-road master Robbie Gordon. Gordon is building a Hummer H3, which in my opinion is probably the coolest vehicle in the event, for last years champion to drive. Should be fun to see what Al-Attiyah can accomplish with Gordon behind him.

– South African Drifter Otto Graven has some issues to sort out. It’s like “Days of our Lives” over at Wrecked Magazine right now.
– Word on the internet is that there will be an event or two and Autoclearing Speedway in Saskatoon. July long weekend seems to be the popular choice at this moment. We will keep you updated.
– Spec-D has a tentative Edmonton Practice schedule up. Visit DriftWest.ca to see the dates.
– DMCC back in the West in 2012? Little birdies keep chirping……..
