For the second time this year we packed our bags and made the trek out west to Penticton British Columbia. This time for Drift Unions D-DAY 17, the final D-DAY of the year. If you recall back in June we came out for the Drift Union Invitational, in which our friend Jordan Hall spun a crank bearing very early in the event. A few short months have passed since then, and Jordan’s SR20 powered Mazda Miata was ready for a little pay back.
We met up with Eric Zapata from Hotboyz Drift in Calgary, Who was also coming to the event along with his 1JZ powered 240SX. After sorting out a few trailer problems we left Calgary en-route to Kelowna where we would be staying the night before making our way to Penticton the next morning.
Logan Noël was kind enough to let us all stay with him for the weekend. So the next morning our small convoy left Kelowna and made the short trip to Penticton Speedway in Penticton BC.
By now cars were being unloaded, and everyone was looking forward to a day of pure fun. Shortly after arriving, Logan was already having problems. I later found out, the day before Logan had swapped his stock rear differential back into the car because he had run out of STI axles. The axle broke immediately after a quick lap around the track. Unfortunately Logan’s day was over before it even began. So if you wonder why your not seeing any pictures of Logan’s Subaru Legacy. You now know the reason.
By now you probably just want to see pictures. So here is a small gallery of the event:
If you’ve never been to a Drift Union event I suggest you make some time next year and attend one. Logan, Shawn and Steven know how to tear a track up. And your guaranteed to see awesome drifting all day long!
