On the Road with DODO: Field’s of Drift

Posted on August 30, 2010August 30, 2010

One of the pleasant surprises of my trip was getting to meet Matt Field. A few months ago I posted a picture of his car up on DODO; Something about Matt’s car just sticks with me. His car was tucked away at the back of the paddocks, kept company by a tent, some lawn chairs, Matt and a few friends. Turns out, Matt is a super nice guy who shares my fondness for S Chassis.

Matt doesn’t have a lot of huge sponsors, just few smaller ones (one of them being Fatlace). So there was no huge trailer to be seen, or any umbrella girls — just a guy who likes to drift. It was super cool to see that grassroots aspect is still alive in mainstream drifting.

When I told Matt I was from Canada, he had a good laugh and showed me his good luck charm: One of his Canadian friends had given him a Loonie, which he taped to the side of his huge spoiler. There is nothing like the sight of Canadian currency to make me feel at home in the middle of the Nevada desert.
