If you haven’t heard of RoyalZProduction, then you are definitely missing out. RoyalZProduction is run by Anastas Maragos. This year for Defrost 2016, Anastas hand-picked seven cars to do a feature video on and invited me along to take photos. Of course, I wouldn’t pass up the opportunity to work alongside him. He has great locations, picks some wicked cars and basically shows up already knowing exactly how it should look – as if he’s already edited it in his mind.
While we were shooting, I asked him a few questions.
How long have you been shooting for? Since fall of 2013.
Favourite part of doing it? I love how the videos bring cars/vehicles to life over a screen.
Favourite subject? Definitely anything with really solid fitment. Low and fitted seems to be the new movement these days. I also just all-around enjoy anything with aggressive fitment.
How’d you get into video? I was actually given a Canon T3i as a grad present back in high school, and the camera sat collecting dust in my room for months before a friend of mine asked me to snap pictures of his 350z…
…I was a little iffy about taking him up on the offer as I had absolutely no skill or motivation in regards to photography, but ended up going for a little shoot anyways. The pictures ended up turning out half-decent, so I kept taking pictures until I came across a videographer out of the states. I came across a video shot of a stanced 240sx and thought the editing was so different; it was edited to the beat of the song and choreographed so perfectly with the car and the footage. I thought “Hey, nobody does this kind of stuff around here and if this guy can shoot these videos, why can’t I?”
And he does. Check out Anastas’ latest video featuring cars from Defrost 2016!
