Seeing this car for the first time earlier this season at a little car show, I knew it was one that needed to be featured. After a month or two, I was able to get a hold of Patrick Antonenko and we set the photo shoot up for the next nice day that week.
Like always, I try to set the time about an hour before sunset, but on that particular day Pat ran into a bit of speed bump where he was going to be late. I thought for sure we would have to reschedule. We met up anyways and the timing ending up being perfect as the light was absolutely gorgeous. Pat’s RX7 looked absolutely epic in my viewfinder, but I knew we were running out of time – fast. So, I had to basically do my thing as quickly as possible. Usually I’ll take my time and get to know the guys or girls and their cars a little better. This time around, I focused on shooting the car and getting Pat to position it before we were out of light and before we could do any real conversing.
Getting eaten alive by mosquitoes on a private golf course road, we finally had some time to shoot the shit when the sun had set and the photo shoot was officially over. “Two years of hard work and long hours in the garage,” said Pat as we stood around his car admiring the incredible job that has been completed. I think the hard work definitely paid off, and I am excited to see the build progress forward. Pat informed me that he has a race ported rotary to swap into the car and with a big single turbo mated to it, he’s hoping for some serious power figures. As the only thing he really has left to do is concentrate on the engine bay, he says a wire tuck, some custom metal work and paint matched to the exterior will happen in the future as well. I don’t know about you, but I can’t freaking wait to see this thing completely finished. The build quality is already fantastic and to say it will be second-to-none in our area is a likely statement. Onto the pictures…
