These last few weeks have had me traveling from my home in Regina to Saskatoon for Cruise Weekend and Boxer Battle, then to Calgary for school. I’ll start my entry at the start of my trip: Saskatoon. Saskatoon has always been a second home to me; I have family there and a lot of great friends. The car scene in S’toon has also always been my favorite.
I remember the Wednesday night farmer’s market meets that could bring out a crowd of 50+ cars. So, it makes sense that an event that has been held for many years, with tons of advertising, would have a massive turnout. While out on 8th St. on a Friday night watching all the cars, I got an invite to photograph a car shoot that had been put together. Of course I couldn’t turn down that opportunity, so on Saturday morning before the Boxer Battle I met up with 13 vehicles and two other photographers.
I like working with more than one photographer so I can capture moments like these. It’s what happens behind the photo shoot – friends bugging one of the other photographers and Shaun’s son jamming out to music, just being the happy kid he is.
This beast of a car came with the group all the way from Grande Prairie. Not only can this car perform, but it has a wicked sound system with custom subs built into the trunk.
The owners of the R35 not only own that car, but also this R34.
Cale Nairn’s Fairlady came out sporting its new carbon fiber spoiler.
This one was one of the three 350Z’s that came out. I’m not normally a fan of five spoke rims, but I will make an exception for these. The neo chrome lip is my favorite.
Shaun Teo, owner of Works Engineering, is living the dream. This guy has an awesome family and a collection of cars I would be more than happy to own. These two are part of his collection: the 350z, and R35.
Once we were done with the group shots, we broke out some of the cars into similarities. Check out this row of Z’s.
And now a row of Skylines.
This was probably the biggest posed vehicle shoot I’d ever been part of. It was a lot of fun and I’m pretty sure Yoga in the Park has never had such an awesome backdrop.
