ScottD’s 2013 year in review!

Posted on January 8, 2014January 8, 2014

2013. What can I say about 2013..?

It held a lot of firsts for me. It was the first year since I’ve been into modding cars that I didn’t have my project car up and running. It was also one of the shortest summers that led directly into one of the coldest winters. And believe it or not, it was the first time I’d ever been to British Columbia!

It was also the first time I had the opportunity to shoot two Nissans owned by brothers.

Due to the RB engine giving my friend Zimmer such a hard time this summer, I didn’t get to as many Driftwest events as I would have liked to. But I’m glad we made it to round 1 in Edmonton! The memory of how slick the track was will probably never leave me; I saw a many a drift car get wrecked that weekend!

I was also lucky enough to find someone to come with me to Saskatoon to check out the Redline Summer Heat meet, followed by the typical Fuddrucker’s munch down. I sure hope more than two people are going to make the trek from Regina to Saskatoon this year. I mean, it’s pretty depressing to think that they bring hundreds of cars here to Regina for every Defrost and Fallout meet, and we can’t bring 10?

Speaking of Defrost and Fallout, 2013 was another huge success for easily filling up the Conexus Arts Center parking lot and selling more merch than ever!

I was glad to see another Pumpkin Bash go down here in Regina in 2013. Even though my hands were ready to fall off due to how cold it was, I had a blast out there shooting that Sunday!

It was a pretty good year for local features as well. Something I’ll never get sick of is getting to know and making connections with more and more people from our car scene. For what Saskatchewan is, the car scene is absolutely awesome and I’m sure tons of people from outside the province will agree!

2013 also held my second year of the SEMA show in Las Vegas, which numbed my senses with the best builds North America has to offer.

And who could forget the first annual Friday Night Hoon Off held at our good friends’ new shop, Odd Man Out tuning! I have to say it was easily one of the funnest nights of the year. I know we all lost years of lives breathing in insane amounts of tire smoke, but it’s a small sacrifice to have some good old fashioned fun!

Great article, sounds like a fun year and your photography skills have progressed lots. We appreciate you (and the guys at DODOlogic) keeping it local and helping the scene out as well as us new and up-coming businesses. Rest assured, there will be more hoon-offs and we’ll find a way to brighten up this depressing winter. Stay Classy Deeley!
