While our neighbors to the west were enjoying DriftWest Round 2 in Regina this past weekend, I was in Winnipeg in a church parking lot. That’s right, it’s that time of the year when Chris Gonzalez travels a few blocks from his home to put on a show for the citizens of Winnipeg.
It’s the fourth drift demo and car show Chris “Gonzo” Gonzalez has put on in our fair city. Coincidentally Gonzo’s drift demo was where I first got my start on DODOlogic; it was only last season when Ryan traveled to Winnipeg and tricked me into being part of this organization.
But it’s worked out well. I love seeing what Winnipeg’s auto lovers bring out and then I get to share it with others
I adore most JZA80′s, but this one in particular always draws me in.
With the high number of S-chassis’ out there, they can become white noise some of the time. However that wasn’t the case for this Kouki S14, which was just an all-around pretty car.
R35′s are still somewhat of a rare site to see, so catching one as it prowls the parking lot is always a treat.
You may be wondering why this gentleman is wearing a helmet but no shirt. The simple answer is safety first!
We got to see some upcoming talent from the stunt riding scene and an example of parenting done right.
If you follow Chris on Facebook, you know he’s been wrenching on his car a lot lately. Here’s a picture of him doing some minor wrenching before he does what he does best.
The last time I saw Chris’ car it was flat black, but now it has returned to white. This V8-powered Silvia always manages to draw a crowd and then instantly convert those onlookers to drift fans.
On days like today, Chris is like Robin Hood. He’s a great advocate for drifting, but much like Sir Robin of Locksley, he’s all about giving back to the people. For too long Winnipeg went without seeing some drifting, until Chris gave it to them.
I feel like I should finish with a “holy smoke” joke seeing as how this all went down in a church parking lot, but I’m going to take the high road and leave you with this image of Chris.
“Parenting done right” i love it thank you for the nice shots for mine and my sons first show, much appreciated, this is just the beginning of our journey together along with the istunt moto family! Pinkys up! And see you all again soon!
