The tradition of cruising Portage on Sunday has been around for generations here in Winnipeg. It’s no secret that the streets of Winnipeg haven’t been too welcoming to enthusiasts over the last few year. Growing restrictions and increased law enforcement have made it rather difficult for enthusiasts to enjoy their rides.
However, it’s nice to see that local enthusiasts haven’t given up and as I found at all the mini-meets that have been popping up around Winnipeg on Sunday nights. Hopefully this level of commitment will restore Cruise nights in Winnipeg to their original glory.
These meets are a great way to get involved in the scene as they welcome young and old to take part in the automotive community. Also, they’re a great way to meet like minded individuals.
Whether it’s imports or domestics, cars or trucks you can expect to find a bit of each. In the end it’s great just to see these enthusiasts out and about, after all it’s hard to appreciate someones car if it’s always in their garage.
There really is a tremendous scene here in Winnipeg and that is what I hope to share with my up-coming posts. After all Winnipeg is “one great city.”
