Every car has a story. But for whatever reason, only a few of those stories get told. This year, the story seems to revolve around Rocket Bunny and Ben Sopra, at least from where we’re sitting. However, let’s switch things up and take a look at the Exotic Air Scion FRS.
This one-of-a-kind Scion was hidden away somewhere in the truck section of the Eneos booth at SEMA 2012. Finding it was like finding a diamond in the rough; I don’t usually spend too much time in the truck section at SEMA. To be fair, Eneos is usually located in the performance hall but because they had taken a few years off from SEMA, they lost booking priority. Nonetheless, this aggressive piece of equipment made it to the showroom floor.
After doing some research, I discovered this car was originally suppose to be fitted with the Rocket Bunny kit. They decided they could do something different and what they ended up with is this very Wayne Tech’esq GT FRS. N1 Concepts, a company usually known for their work with Honda’s, was the driving force behind this kit and a company by the name of Asuka is responsible for the final product.
The car is equipped with the new Forgestar Super Deep Concave F14 wheels. The widest wheels they could get were 19×10 -25 & 19×11 -6, but those weren’t enough to match this GT kit. The wheels have been spaced out by an inch in the front and two inches in the rear.
There’s a lot to be said about this Scion: the engine has been swapped to a STi motor and the car is actually plasti-dipped black. As far as stories go, this car has a lot to say. And its story paid off for the team behind the FRS; they won a People’s Choice Award at SEMA.
