Dodo Logic was out promoting the ‘Big Valley Driftoree’ Drift Competition being held on September 19th at the 3 Flags Motorsports Park in Lumsden. As a result we got some ink in the local newspaper:
Annual Show and Shine event raises food and money for Regina and District Food Bank

Automotive enthusiasts gathered in Regina on Monday to check out hundreds of eye-catching vehicles and support the Regina and District Food Bank.
The annual Access Communications Children’s Fund Labour Day Show and Shine was held at Access Communications’ Community Park. Despite initial threats of rain, the weather co-operated.
“It’s clearing off and it’s going to be a nice day,” said Doug Alexander, chairman of the show for Access Communications.
“The cars are the stars of the show here today, but really we’re here to look after kids who go to bed hungry at night and go to school the next day hungry.”
Alexander noted that more than 10,000 people visit the Regina and District Food bank every month and that half of those helped are children. To get into the car show, visitors made a donation of a nonperishable food item or $2.
“All the food and money collected goes to the Regina and District Food Bank,” said Alexander.
He noted the last edition of the event raised more than 5,100 pounds of food and more than $4,600.
“That’s what we’re wanting to beat this time around,” he commented.
Totals released late Monday indicated the 2009 edition of the event raised more than 3,000 pounds of food and $4,100 — bringing the total raised in the event’s three years to six tons of food and $11,000.
More than 50 volunteers are required to put on the show and shine, which — with about 500 vehicles expected to be involved — is one of the largest such auto shows in Saskatchewan, according to Alexander.
“Thanks to all the volunteers,” he said. “It’s food, fun and fancy cars; that’s what it’s all about, for the food bank.”
Gord Bacon of the Collectors Car Club of Saskatchewan — one of the partners in organizing the event — pointed out the wide variety of vehicles at the show.
With classic domestic muscle cars, antique European imports and souped-up Japanese right-hand drive models, the diversity of machinery is similar to that within the Collectors Car Club itself, which boasts no vehicle restrictions.
“We don’t have very many rules for our club,” Bacon said, noting that the club organizes multiple car shows and cruises every year. “We just have fun.”
Alexander noted some people aren’t big collectors or involved with any organizations, but simply have classics in their garages they bring out for the day.
Bill Alderton of Regina drove his 1971 El Camino, which he has owned for about 20 years, to the show on Monday.
“It’s good to have an outdoor show,” he said. “This is the first time I’ve had it out this year and it’s just about time to put them away again” for winter.
Kyle Ermel had an Acura Integra on display alongside vehicles owned by his friends on the Dodo Logic racing team.
The group was trying to promote the “Big Valley Driftoree” it’s organizing. That event will be held in Lumsden Sept. 19.
“We all have tuned-up cars,” Ermel explained.
“We came here to promote our drift event … We’re just trying to get as many people out to that as we can. And we brought some food for the food bank.”
