If you are a resident of Regina it’s probably safe to say you have seen this vehicle prowling the streets. The clean red paint and construction orange wheels pop out at you from this common commuter. These are just the little things that make Alex Bingham’s 2009 Subaru WRX hard to miss but there is much more to this story.
This Subaru has been put through it’s paces being on it’s fourth built motor since Alex bought it new. Shortly after purchasing it, Alex tells me he “moved up to stage 2.” Within that time period he ended up spinning a bearing at SiR – the local drag strip. After a winter of having the car parked in the garage and saving money for a new set up Alex dropped in a built motor. He paired that motor with a larger turbo, injectors and intercooler. However 6 months later, tragedy struck once again when his oil pump failed wrecking the 6 month old motor.
After more time and money the 3rd engine was dropped in, after being built more reliably and pushing 380AWHP. This motor lasted longer then the others but it started to consume oil and a bad header wrecked his turbo. Alex decided to go all out and send the car away to Maxwell Power Services, better known as MPS, in Marysville, WA. They are known for building some of the fastest and most reliable Subaru motors and their reputation is nothing short of unreal. Alex informed them of the power he wished to make. Alex and MPS worked together choosing the parts for the build. Four months later the car was finished, tuned and put down a very impressive 508.3AWHP on the dyno!
I will stop my blabbering and leave you with the spec list directly from Alex himself, enjoy.
