It’s not too often you see cars like this around these parts. The majority of the time it’s classic American muscle that is restored to look brand new as if they just rolled off the assembly line. To me it is a site for sore eyes to see a classic Japanese car in such pristine condition and Brady Taylor’s Datsun 510 is nothing short of spectacular in my books.
Two years ago Brady found the car on Kijiji and bought it off a local Datsun enthusiast who used to race 510’s. The cars original color was orange but Brady gave it a complete make over – keep in mind the chrome is all original- rust was restored with metal and no Bondo was used. In other words Brady is doing it right and not cutting any corners during this restoration.
Sitting on a classic set of SSR Formula Mesh’s measuring 14×7 +11 offset, which Brady and his brother Chase found in Japan, the color he opted for when getting them refinished is a perfect match.
Wanting to stick to the cars roots silver BRE ghost stripes where placed on top of a beautiful metallic charcoal grey paint.
Plans for the Datsun over this winter include a completely rebuilt SR20 with as many Tomei internals as he can cram into it. Along with shaving the engine bay, installing a custom valve cover, installing 11″ Wilwood brakes and custom suspension all around this car should be a show stopper.
The interior is all stock minus the carpet and the refinished Personal wheel with a new horn button, paint and bolts. Brady tells me he has plans to restore the interior in the near future, like it isn’t clean enough!
