Sunday, July 22nd was open track day at Kings Park Speedway. Drifting is almost non-existent in Saskatchewan, so any track time in a safe and controlled environment is always welcome! Three of five cars that were drifting on Sunday were from Saskatoon. The guys made the day trip down just to shred some rubber and show their support for the local scene.
I hope to see more of these days around, I wouldn’t mind trying to learn on this track.
Some of Chris Klein’s shredded rubber
You can see the sparks flying from the cords.
I unfortunately arrived just after the first set of drifting and found out Tanner Frain bent his inner tie rod. So I never did get any action shots of his 180SX. I however did get this picture, it shows how when something breaks your not alone to fix it. I think when I looked over at one point there were 4 guys leaning on a lever trying to bend that tie rod back into place. A day of drifting isn’t complete if something doesn’t break.
Chris and Tanner having some fun on the track, this is right before the cords started sparking.
Shaun Teo and Cam Klein were driving this 350z which was one of the ones that made the trip from Saskatoon. I believe Shaun was just learning and he definitely was getting the hang of it!
This is Kolton Ryan, he came all the way from Weyburn to slide that day!
Kyle Zimmer was nice enough to spearhead this event for the Saskatchewan drifting community in conjunction with the fine people over at Kingspark speedway.
At first, I didn’t even recognize Zimmer’s R32 with his new flat black paint, it looks good!.
Another one of Shaun or Cam killing some rubber.
High on the bank! He had really good entry speed and by the end of the day was completing the corner.
Zimmer with a ride along, he has definitely come a long way since the first time I saw him at the track in Saskatoon. Way more consistent with keeping it sideways! Awesome job, keep it up!
This wasn’t the first time Chris lost his bumper that day.
Flew off in one piece though, nothing a few zip ties couldn’t fix! Be sure to check out DODOlogic for any other upcoming events at Kinspark Speedway and thank you again to the track for letting this happen!
