Good Monday Morning. First of all I would like to apologize for no Rundown last Monday. You can thank the good old invention know as the cable modem. While extremely useful while working, it turns out that it isn’t so useful when not. This week I will be quick as no one should have to do too much work on their birthday. Let’s begin……
The first round of the brand new Driftwest Drift series was held at Stratotech in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta yesterday. While I haven’t seen any official results I saw that most of the names you would expect to collect points collected points yesterday. Hopefully we will have some coverage up in the next couple of days here. In the mean time make sure you check out Driftwest.ca for information on the next round which is only a couple of weeks away at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton.

The Canadian Grand Prix took place over the weekend in Montreal. I didn’t have a chance to watch the race but I know how to use the internet and figure out who won and stuff…….
1. Lewis Hamilton McLaren-Mercedes
2. Romain Grosjean Lotus-Renault
3. Sergio Perez Sauber-Ferrari

The Firestone 550 took place on Saturday night in Texas. Canadians made a name for themselves with Alex Tagliani qualifying first and Danica Patrick’s ‘replacement’ James Hinchcliffe finishing the race in 4th spot.
The Final Podium looks like this:
1. Justin Wilson
2. Graham Rahal
3. Ryan Briscoe

Before the race Saturday night in Texas, the second round of the Global Rallycross Championship took place at the Texas Motor Speedway. I really wish someone in Canada would carry coverage of the events like ESPN is doing down south. From all accounts it has been pretty entertaining racing between all of the big names that are taking part. This weekend it was Ford sweeping the podium with my old WRC favourite Marcus Gronholm winning again and Tanner Foust finishing second. Brian Deegan the Freestyle Motocross rider that has turned his attention to 4-wheels lately took 3rd place.
Watch a little event recap provided by Ford Racing.
Next up on the RallyCross schedule is the X-games in Los Angeles.

Ken Gushi is going to try his hand and trying to tackle Pike’s Peak this year. He will be doing so in a Lexus IS-F CCS-R. I’ll be honest, I have never heard of the CCS-R. What the internet told me though is that CCS stands for ‘Club Circuit Sport Club’ and I would asume the ‘R’ stands for ‘RACE CAR’. It will be interesting to watch all the new entries trying to race to the top of the peak now that the whole course is paved.
