Feeling European eh? Well I will tell you why. The brains behind DODOlogic met last evening and yours truly had a few Stella Artois while discussing matters ever so important to the internet automotive blog world. Not only did I ingest the Stella, when I got home to write this weekly mainstay, I proceeded to drink 500ml of Spain’s most popular Estrella Damm. It didn’t end there though, I followed up the Damm with a tallboy of Smithwick’s Draught from Ireland. What am I trying to tell you here you might be asking? Well I will let you in on a little secret, I have found that consuming alcohol (aka beer) helps me put the Rundown together every Sunday evening. That is correct, drunken writing at it’s finest. Let’s begin……
Yesterday was April Fool’s day. While DODOlogic didn’t try to ‘fool’ any of our ultra-intelligent readers, several other large conglomerates did. For example Google informed the world that their self-driving car program was being migrated to NASCAR. If you thing about it it is genius. Safe racing at it’s finest!
Also Lotus tried to trick us into thinking that parent company Proton sold Lotus to a Chinese investment firm. As a result a simple name change took place and now Lotus was to be known as ‘Rotus’. Rotus Erise anyone? http://www.rotuscars.com/

Formula Drift 2012 kicks off this Friday with practice and Qualifying on the streets of Long Beach. Eighteen Rookies are expected to show for the first event of the season and some of them are bringing some legit prepared cars. One of those rookies being Canada’s own Dave Briggs who will be sliding a NASCAR powered Nissan Z. We posted some video of him on our Facebook Page a few weeks back of him testing up north. The video below is of him testing at Willow Springs. Will Briggs be the rookie of the year?

Still on the topic of Formula D, Brian Eggert has been named to the judging panel for the 2012 season. Eggert replaces Tony Angelo who is getting back behind the wheel of a Scion TC. Eggert joins Andy Yen and Ryan Lanteigne as the ‘voices of reason’.

Some ‘fresh’ names found their way on to the WRC podium this weekend after the final stage of Round 4 in Portugal was run. Mads Ostberg of the Adapta World Rally Team took top spot while lone Russian entry Evgeny Novikov claimed second. That Petter Solberg dude took 3rd by the way. Next up is Argentina in a few weeks.

The next Formula One Race takes place in Shanghai China in two weeks. Sebastien Vettel is currently 6th in the driver points race. WTF?!?!? It turns out that Narain Karthikeyan is “Number 1” in Vettel’s books though.

Last but not least we have a video of Batman being pulled over for not having any tags. The cops seem to have a good time with him…..
