6:00 AM is an inappropriate time to wake up on a Sunday, 5:00AM however is just awful . Lucky for me my Sunday morning was just an inappropriate wake up call, Devan on the other hand had an awful wake up call. This is mainly because Devan had to pick me up before we made the trip to Evergreen Speedway for Nissan Fest.
Driving down the highway in a Skyline on coils, with a window that doesn’t roll up was a great way to wake up in the morning. Once Devan lent me a glove to wear and the heater kicked it wasn’t that bad.
I had more of chance to warm up as we sat at the border waiting in line to get through. If for some reason the people in front of us in the Sunfire read this, you should know it is not cool to butt in line… There is enough border for everyone.
A gas stop brought us into a surprisingly friendly town. The American citizens were very polite and gave us directions to the track, one of them even told us about his imprisoned uncle. Apparently he deserved to be there, so we shouldn’t feel bad about it.
Before we new it we were at the track in the pit area, we even managed to spot our friend Ian Fournier from Drift Safari and his Fatlace R32 Skyline. For those of you who don’t know Ian, you should and if you have never heard his car, well just imagine a dragon who drinks a lot of whisky and smokes a pack a day.
We eventually made our way to the media meeting where we saw a few familiar faces, like David Sully Sullivan aka Sully Life sporting the Yaer production hoody. Also, on this day our good friend Gaelen Norman of Big Boy Media was wearing his event organizer hat instead of his media hat.
Gaelen’s organzing responsibilities had him pretty busy, so we took the opportunity to capitalize on some prime real-estate on his car.
We had some time to kill so Devan and myself journeyed out into the show to see what was cooking.
We happened upon our friends from Drift Union, they were reppin’ their new Sponsor – Rogue Status/DTA. They were also slanging some sweet merch of their own.
If you haven’t visited their store ever or in awhile, you should check it out. Durple cars mean business -> http://driftunion.bigcartel.com/
Back to the show, to my surprise there were plenty of non-nissan cars occupying said space but I didn’t mind.
Soon the roar of engines became our siren song, and were beckoned to the track for some drifting. We will talk more later, this should do for today.
