The Regular Stuff: BCDA Opens 2026 at Mission Raceway

Posted on January 8, 2026January 8, 2026

It’s January 3rd, and a more reasonable person might be on a ski hill enjoying the winter season. I never learned to ski, so instead I made the less reasonable choice to stand in the pouring rain and photograph cars drifting around Mission Raceway at the first BCDA event of 2026.

I can’t complain too much about the rain. If I lived almost anywhere else in Canada, drifting on pavement in January would be close to impossible. This is one of the quieter benefits of West Coast living. I do take it for granted though. A younger version of me would have been all over this. It turns out winter drifting is also great for creating consistent content year-round.

The tricky part about creating content is how easily it becomes measured by engagement and views. That mindset nudges you toward chasing what will perform well and gives you plenty of reasons not to pick up the camera at all. It’s tempting to wait for big, important events, but those are few and far between, and waiting too long can back you into a corner.

Days like this are a reminder that the regular stuff still matters and can still surprise you. On this particular day, Marcus Lam completely changed how I look at the ZN6 chassis, so credit where it’s due.

This isn’t a New Year’s resolution to shoot more. It could be, but I don’t really do resolutions. More than anything, this felt like the simplest way to share high-resolution photos with the drivers. If you’re one of them, feel free to use the photos on social media. Tag Dodologic if you can. If you don’t, I probably won’t know, but the courtesy is appreciated.

The question that keeps coming up for me is whether BCDA even has an off-season. It’s January, there’s already been one event, and another is lined up for February. Either way, go out and support BCDA, even if you do ski. They continue to put in the work to support the local drift community, and it shows.
