I am very excited to be able to start bringing the readers of DODOlogic more German and European content. If you are a regular to the DODO site you may have noticed a lack of European representation, well this is going to change with more features and event coverage for Volkswagens, Audis, Porsches, Mercedes Benz, BMW – and anything else originating from across the pond.
First up on the list is the first annual SKDUBS season opener hosted by Taylor Volkswagen in Regina, Saskatchewan. The event followed shortly after DODOlogic’s own Defrost.
As the inaugural event it did not bring in the number of people and cars as Defrost but a good number of Volkswagen enthusiasts came out (and one Toyota Matrix – technically the dealership was still open for business) to show support for the show. And it didn’t help 30 minutes into the show Mother Nature decided to unleash cold winds and rain onto us.
Let’s get into the cars – like this new Audi S3. Lowered on Bilstein coil overs and rubber wrapped around Ray’s wheels. Spoke with the owner and he mentioned he is software flashed with a stage 2 file from APR (346 WHP/366WTQ).
And what S3 is complete until they have an R8 steering wheel installed in the cabin.
From ‘full bolt on’ to ‘just the beginning’. This MK6 Golf R was finished just days before the show. Airlift air ride suspension to drop it nice and low and European LED tail lights to clean up the rear end. This is only the beginning for this Golf and I am for one excited to see big things in the future from this owner.
Partway through the show another bagged Volkswagen appeared on VIP Modular wheels. Wasn’t able to talk to the owner to find out all the details about their setup unfortunately.
For those who are #static4life, don’t worry there was some VW’s not on air. Like this Jetta on classic polished Fat 5’s and sporting an authentic Votex front bumper.
You may have noticed this deep blue pearl 2004 Golf R32 lurking in a few of the pictures. This is no ordinary R32 as you can see some boost piping and intercooler peeking through the front bumper. The VR6 has a big turbo hanging off of it (Precision T4 is what I hear) and easily walks B8 Audi S4’s on low boost. Owner is a diehard VW fan and with no plans to slow down on his R32 nor keep the boost on his R32 to low.
Overall the first annual SKDUBS season opener I say was a success despite the miserable weather. Taylor Davidson was a gracious host providing food and the use of their show room for attendees to warm up and look at the new VW’s.
