Ahh, Texas. The place where belt buckles are as big as hubcaps, tumbleweeds blow and everybody says “y’all.” Right? That’s the image I’ve had in my head since I was just a little guy. Driving from Saskatoon, SK to Houston, TX was an awesome experience that I’d recommend to anybody in a heartbeat! The reason for DRIVING there? Well, TX2K16 of course! Now, you’re probably wondering what “TX2K16” is.. well, I have some news for you! Named for the first event of its kind some 17 years ago, TX2K is a weekend-long race event that includes drag races, roll races and a dyno competition. This is a street car event – meaning no full blown race cars allowed! They also state that you must have a minimum of 700hp to enter, with a few exceptions. This event brings out some heavy hitters you’ve probably seen somewhere on the internet, such as…
The 800+hp English Racing Integra.
And the guys at Alpha Performance brought out a couple heavy hitting 2000+hp Alpha Omega GT-Rs.
Night time in Houston is like one giant car meet, with people gathering at the three main hotels all the out-of-town folk stay at. We had a few internet celebrities staying at our hotel, including the LSX Willy’s, One eye Willys, Sketchy Vert and Black Jesus.
I’ll finish with a couple more neat cars I photographed along the way:
