Driven Calgary 2016

It’s been a while since I’ve attended a proper show, and Driven Calgary happened at a perfect time for me to attend.

Held at the Olympic Oval at the U of C, I felt like the show was a great success. I really liked how all the sponsors auctioned goods and services off for charity at the end of the day. When all was said and done, the event organizers raised nearly $8,000. It was a very generous act and restored some of my faith in humanity.

IMG_1800Seeing some really gnarly cars like this 1036hp EK Civic made the trip totally worth it – along with the long-lost Taco Bell munch down, of course…

IMG_1723I’ve always liked TSXs, and this car blew up on the internet last year. It was cool to see in real life.

At a show where there is a high quantity of quality cars, it’s easy to walk past something and completely miss it. Although I tried my hardest to check everything out, I have a feeling I missed a few cars I was probably meant to see. Luckily, this Sr20-swapped Datsun Bluebird wasn’t missed.

IMG_1683Neither was this old Skyline – a car I don’t think I’d laid eyes on before.

IMG_1724I was in Honda heaven at Driven. It’s not every day you get to see bagged and boosted S2Ks…

IMG_1807The Saskatchewan Honda scene has been pretty slow lately, so it was refreshing to visit Alberta and see stuff like this Integra.

IMG_1744Another Skyline I had never laid eyes on in real life: the famous R34 GTR V-Spec.

IMG_1777Arif Jina, a friend of DODOlogic’s, had his Civic at the show with some nice new additions since we saw it last.

IMG_1779Next to our friend Jina, I found two other familiar faces: the first being Eric Zapata of Hotboyz. Eric brought out his 1Jz-GTE swapped S15, complete with new Work D7Rs.

IMG_1784The second face was Eric’s teammate and DODOlogic consultant, Jordan Hall. Jordan brought out his 99′ spec Rx7 one last time before he starts slapping some new parts on it.

Before I leave you with this gallery of remaining pictures, I have to give my own personal “Best of Show” choice to this Integra. From top to bottom, it was the best example of an Integra I’d ever seen and it’s actually competing in this year’s Tuner Battlegrounds by PASMAG. So, if you’re a Honda guy like me, go vote for Alex here.
