Those of you who live in Regina and attended the Majestics Car Show show last weekend might notice there’s a large number of cars that won’t make this post – not because they’re not worthy of being shown, but because it isn’t typical DODOlogic content. The Majestics show means the start of the local car season, and we’ve made a habit of attending each year. It’s a nice way to warm up after a long winter of not a lot of shooting.
The first car that really caught my eye was this 308 GTSi QV. I’ve always been a huge fan of Ferrari’s, not to mention older models – the F40 for instance. It looks like it has been driven quite a bit, judging by the condition of the front lip and other small cosmetic flaws. But can you really blame the owner for wanting to drive it as much as possible?
The next car – or should I say engine bay – that caught my eye was this Chevy with a 508 clean enough to eat off.
I have no idea what the hell this thing is. All I know is the turbine driving it is roughly the same size as its front wheels.
It was apparent this ’68 Plymouth Road Runner was a big hit. As you can see, a more awkward than normal angle was needed to cut other onlookers out of the frame. I got tired of waiting for a good photo since so many people were drawn in by it. The huge 528CI Hemi looked as if it were crammed into the engine bay, which was far from small!
I remember this ’70 Chevelle from last year. It always stops me in my tracks and pulls me in like a fishing line. With 1250RWHP, 427 cubic inches, 7.9 seconds in the 1/4 mile; what else is needed to say? Well, the fabrication work is a piece of art and the huge 94mm Garrett GT55-33 turbo is pretty mind boggling.
This 1934 Ford truck was very well done. The sparkling red paint contrasted with the white bed, interior, firewall and tire sidewalls, giving it a very classic yet flashy finish. Easily one of the cleanest rides I saw that day!
Being a fairly import-biased person, you have to know I’ll always stop and take a picture of an old Datsun.
The ‘unique’ award of the day goes to the guys who converted this old Bug to a fully electric car. 75 cents per 60 kilometers is what I was told it cost the thing to run. Sounds pretty nice right?
It wasn’t just the big blower sticking out of the hood of this old ’57 Chevy, it was the fact it weighs only 300 pounds more than my gutted Civic does. That and it runs eight seconds in the 1/4…
A very (very, very, very) clean 1960 MGA Roadster on chrome-spoked wheels. I don’t know what it is, but anything from overseas seems so much more interesting to me… I guess that’s just how the car world works though.
The engine bay in this restored from the ground up Z28 Camaro was immaculate with the 350 looking right at home.
A very cool 1956 Ford F100 with a shiny 302 up front and an old school matching Honda bike in the rear.
A 528CI Hemi sitting in a 1965 Dodge Coronet A/FX Tribute.
This beauty at the Majestics Car Club booth wasn’t competing because it’s a member’s car.
