I’ve been a big fan of Barrett Jackson for quite awhile, so when I had a chance to see it live, there was no way I could pass it up. My first impression as I walked in was it looked a lot like SEMA, but without the copious amount of hot models posing for your pictures and a lack of newer cars.
One of the first displays that caught my attention was the Maserati booth. I don’t understand why the guy tried to sell me this car, he must have misunderstood the Saskatchewan Roughrider logo on my bunny hug as a big cash symbol.. Either way, this Grand Turismo MC was one beautiful car.
If there was one car that caught me by surprise, it would be the Ferrari F300 driven by Michael Shumacher. Formula One is my favourite motor sport and to see a piece of racing history was a dream come true. There were plenty of other exotic cars at the show that we all know and dream about owning. Here are just a few:
I’m not sure how popular this 2009 Mosler Raptor GTR is. I’ve never heard of it, but this 1,200hp twin-turbocharged beast goes from 0-60mph in 2.5 seconds.
They had booths set up for companies to sell their merchandise. Most were car related and some weren’t, but one that grabbed my attention was this racing simulator. This is the best racing simulator I’ve ever had the chance to try. It has all the characteristics of an actual car; you feel the engine vibrating, feel every bump and even the motion of shifting gears through the seat and steering wheel. I’m not going to lie, it did get a little boring just making left turns all day with the gas pedal to the floor, but throw in a F1 race package and most of us will be smiling ear-to-ear! There was a lot to see at the show but I will leave it at this for now.
