As a filmmaker I constantly struggle with my own creativity. I’m always trying to figure out what’s the “cool thing” to do in a video, or what you guys — the viewer — will find interesting. If I’m going to tell you one thing about being a media contributor, it’s this: it’s tough to be creative and not bitch about the content you create.
This video is not one of my best and some of you might agree with me. Forgetting my tripod was my first problem, but filming at an event with no game plan would be my downfall. My best ideas always seem to come when I’m sitting down at my iMac with the raw footage on the screen. Sometimes I want to say, “Fuck it!” and buy a new camera or watch more videos for inspiration, but what I really need to do is take a step back and focus on the pre-production.
I took some risks with this video and definitely jumped out of my comfort zone. It worked because I learned a lot from this video, but I still don’t like it… I hope some of you guys do.
