First and foremost, let me begin by saying that Louren Sansregret might have the most appropriate last name for drifting I’ve ever heard (well, in addition to Powers). Allow me to explain: sans is French for “without” and regret is English for regret. Put those together in some crazy mixed-up bilingual sense, and you have “without regret.” It’s pretty much the essence of drifting.
Think about it. In a sport where you continually run the risk of wrecking your ride or going broke, you can’t really live with regrets. If you did, you wouldn’t be on the track risking it. Now that we’ve established that Louren was born to drift, let’s take a look at his 1992 Nissan 240sx.
There is something to be said about Louren’s S-chassis. Well obviously there is, or I wouldn’t be writing an article about it. Competition drift cars keep moving more and more towards full-on race car themes and ditch their street look for full-on race liveries. With its simple red paint and mixture of Origin and Uras parts, Louren’s car pays homage to the roots of drifting.
Add the fact that Louren is still running a built S13 Blacktop SR20det opposed to the ever popular V8, and you’re getting into purist territory.
Louren has four Work Meisters, all measuring in at 17×8 +15. In and around that area you’ll also find some Peak Performance tension rods, Circuit Sports tie rods, and modded front knuckles. This coupe finds its ride height with the help of some Stance GR.
Louren also has 8 Falken Hanabis measuring 17×9 +20 for drift spares.
Louren’s car is synonymous with DriftWest events or just competitive drifting in the prairies. I can’t think of an event I’ve been to where he hasn’t been on track. In the past, I’ve referred to him as Mr. Consistency and I do so with good cause. Louren is currently fourth in the DriftWest Pro Series standings.
Part of staying on top means being able to show up and run. The people at Lightspeed Innovations made sure the car was tuned just right and that signature paint was taken care of by Joey’s Place in Edmonton.
Drifting in the midwest provinces is really coming into its own. There have been some ups and downs, but a large part of its success is because of drivers like Louren who are committed to its growth.
