This weekend marks the 10th year of existence for Formula D. Every year, we reminisce about how far Formula D has come and how successful it is. In fact, there’s an interesting article up on Speedhunters right now that goes into detail about their evolution. That being said, I’m not here to just talk about an article on another site. As with every Wednesday, we’re here to talk about wheels in some roundabout way.
Tarmac 52′s: love ’em or hate ’em, it would appear they’re the only thing that is moving forward from this S13. As you’ve probably heard, the Retaks S13 has been retired and replaced with a 2JZ-powered FRS. So, in some ways this is farewell to one of the oldest and longest-running cars in the history of Formula D.
It has changed hands with a few different drivers over the years, but it really came into its own when Ryan Tuerck got behind the wheel. As you can tell by the picture, this car was more than just lightly used. And after years of abuse, it will disappear from the grid.
The last time I saw this car was at SEMA. It was pretty refreshing to see this war-torn S-Chassis among the immaculate builds.
