Once upon a time, there was this thing called the Monday Morning Rundown. The Rundown was full of fun automotive news, but my fellow contributor got too busy with real life to do it. This is my take on the Rundown, which looks at a certain local event that took place on Saturday, April 27 — the first day that felt like spring in Saskatchewan.
Defrost by Taylor Scion was a huge success. I even managed to get a pretty bad sunburn, which is odd. This year’s meet had more cars and vendors than any other year.
We usually try real hard to keep track of the numbers, but this year we lost count around 350 cars.
It always blows my mind how many different cars attend. This year, Regional Subaru Owners’ Club — also known as RSOC — came out in bigger numbers. With such long and wretched winters here, I suppose it makes sense there’s such a large Subaru population.
If you look closely, you’ll see a Manitoba plate on this Civic. The owner scraped his frame all the way from Winnipeg just to attend the meet.
But the weekend wasn’t just about Defrost. Redline Society held an after-meet meet at Regina’s most popular car spot. They’ll continue to do so every Wednesday night in the same spot, starting this Wednesday, May 1.
On Sunday, we took a break from hard parking and took a trip to Kingspark Speedway to check out the familiar faces at the Drift West Matsuri. I spent most of the event ruining my shoes in the mud and snow, just trying to get some decent pics.
It’s been a while since I shot a drift event; it was nice to brush off the cobwebs and get the hang of it before we head out to Drift West Round 1 in Edmonton.
All and all, the weekend was a great success. We here at DODOlogic would like to thank everyone who helped to help make this weekend happen. Also, thanks to everyone who came out to the events. It wouldn’t have been the same without you.
Great meet and I see my friend Braden’s R32 GTR made it. I really love reading the posts here.
Cheers
Love the little blurb on my civic! Haha. Great show and a great gang of guys. Definitely coming back for Fallout!
Cheers!
