Every once and a while I break away from my comfort zone of Japanese wheels and write about something I have little-to-no understanding of. Today is one of those days; you could say he wheels of change are in motion. Below you are looking at the Lexus LF-CC. It’s a Lexus concept vehicle that has been approved for production.
In case you didn’t know, the LF-CC is a hybrid with the Lexus Hybrid Drive powertrain that features an all-new 2.5 litre 4-cylinder petrol engine mated to a compact, high-output, watercooled permanent magnet electric motor. Most of this might seem irrelevant if you’re anything like me; even if you could afford a brand new Lexus, the LF-CC wouldn’t even register on your radar
So then why even bother talking about it? Well, styling cues will more than likely start trickling down from the LF-CC into the entire Lexus brand. I’m curious to see what the next generations of Lexus’ will become. I have a bit of a crush on the IS’, GS’ and the LS’, so I take interest in what’s happening now because years from now — when I am old and gray — I could be driving a second-hand Lexus that we’re discussing now.
So that is the LF-CC and some representation of the future direction of Lexus.
In case I left you with a bad taste in your mouth, here is a reminder of just how awesome Lexus can be.
If the LF-CC is a projection of what Lexus will most likely become, then the LFA is a dream of what it could be. As long as they meet somewhere in the middle, I’ll be happy.
