A few weeks ago, my wife and I took a road trip down to Portland. For the first time in a long time, I traveled with no intentions of visiting an automotive event. It was a weird thing for me and by the end of the trip I was going through withdrawal. Lucky for me, our friend Dylan Evans mentioned a toy drive that was happening in Kent, Washington. This just so happened to coincide with the trip back to Canada.
We showed up in our rental car, hid it at the back of the parking lot and shot as much as we could in an hour. One car I was particularly pleased to come across was Derrik Pompeo’s S-chassis. This car reminds me of why I fell in love with S-chassis’ so long ago.
Although the meet was starting to clear out by the time I got there, the lot was still pretty busy and full of a variety of cars. The rain didn’t seem to faze anyone as much as it should have; my camera was probably more affected by the weather than anyone there
The Rumble Wagon was out in festive design for the season.
There was definitely a good mix of cars to be seen and the wet pavement made for cool pictures.
This Audi drew my attention from across the parking lot. Thankfully the owner, sitting in the car with his window open, didn’t make this any more awkward then it needed to be.
The line of cars leaving the lot grew and I knew it was time to go, especially if we had any hope of getting the rental car back in time. I searched the lot for Dylan’s little red roadster so I could thank him for the heads up about the event, but I just couldn’t find him. What I did find was a long wait at the border that night; still, it was well worth it to take in this event at Kent Raceway.
