I thought I would mix it up a bit and throw this Mustang into the mix. Weird right? I don’t usually write about Mustangs but everyone once and a while it happens. I usually write about RTR’s and judging by those HRE 501’s this is definitely a RTR.
For those of you who are unaware RTR stands for ‘Ready to Rock’ and is the vision of Vaughn Gittin JR. Essentially he wanted to build Mustangs that appeal to a younger generation. Judging by this RTR Spec 3 collaboration with Mothers, he is pretty on point. The car makes an impressive 650 hp and many of the cars mods were performed by ASD. ASD is of course Autosport Dynamics and they’re responsible for building some of Formula D’s most competitive cars.
However let’s be honest, we are here for the wheels. The RTR Spec 3 is equipped with these HRE 501 modular 3 piece mesh wheels which seem to pair well with the rest of the car.
Now obviously we could all sit around and complain about how the car could be lower and the stance could be much more aggressive. However, Vaughn’s style pushes more to the side of function, and I think it shows in this car. Now Mothers will spend the rest of the year touring this car around to some shows, give it a bit of track time and then auction it off at the Barrett-Jackson auction with all proceeds going to cancer research.
