A few weeks ago Taylor Scion in Regina gave us the opportunity to test drive the new Scion FRS. We were more than excited and while we were out, ended up doing a photo shoot and review which you can find here: http://www.dodologic.com/?p=11358 .What we didn’t show you was the small drift session that took place afterwards, because after all – we did hear that this car was pretty good at it.
After getting the “go ahead” I decided to take it slow to get a feel for the car..
It didn’t take long until I was comfortable in the pilots seat, the pedals and steering felt attached to the car and were very responsive.
Earlier when I took the car for a drive, my first impression was that it needed more power, but after throwing the car around for a bit, it felt much better in the higher RPM’s.
Due to its great handling and weight distribution, the car loves being sideways. It was actually pretty easy to slide, the best I can describe it is that it feels like a 240sx with soft coilovers, and it’s easier to work with than an AE86.
The car turned out to be a great out of the box drift car, however, if you plan on trying this out I would highly recommend a better set of tires, and possibly a drift button.
