Hey everyone, my name is Keith, and I have been a fan of the VW/Audi scene as long as I’ve been able to drive, so I hope to bring some more delicious Euro content to you readers. You’ll also see my girlfriend Carina’s name watermarked on the photos.
If you have ever been to a VW meet you have probably seen Carina, she can usually be found hanging out my car window trying to capture the perfect rolling shot. We’ve got a bit of an addition to the recent SKDubs spring opener event coverage, and will hopefully be bringing some more Euro shows to the plate later on.
This shot was obviously Carina as I can’t really hang out the window and snap photos while driving, not yet anyway. It works out better this way because she has real knack for it.
Getting straight into it with Brendon’s (founder of SKDubs) 2008 MKV R32. He recently made the trip south across the border to import this R. It is an AWD, 3.2l VR6 which translates to something special for most VW enthusiasts. It is sitting on HPA coilovers, with a nice set of powder coated VMR 710’s. Absolutely love the bronze on white look. He’s since added some spacers as well to bring the wheels flush.
While we’re on the subject of R32’s, here’s another MKV R. This one made the trip down to the show from Saskatoon with it’s famous Deep Blue Pearl paint.
This awesome MKVI Jetta GLI was representing the newest generation of VW’s at the show. This car sports a 2.0l turbocharged engine, which had a few goodies from 42 Draft Designs attached to it as well. I love the red!
Dropping back three generations, this clean MKIII Wolfsburg Edition Jetta made the trip down from Saskatoon as it does every year. Lowered on a set of ATS Cup wheels, this car has been around SKDubs for a while, and is constantly changing (and always for the better). Two years back this car had an unfortunate water damage incident when the street it was on flooded, but the owner (Jordan) restored it to the awesome condition it is in now. Needless to say the VW community was happy that he kept it, it also makes a nice edition to this post.
The MKVI Golf R was just recently released, and this one in Candy White made it out to the meet. Proud owner Rob, also the owner of a very nice Corrado, picked it up recently and brought it out to show it off. These cars come stock with about 260 HP and 243 ft/lbs of torque, powered by a 2.0T. They only come in 6 speed standard and if you couple that with the AWD, you get an amazing car to drive.
This beautiful S5 had DPE wheels and a moderate drop. The sound this car makes is just terrifying too. It’s mere sound of the engine gave me a little scare at one of our pit stops.
This nicely stanced Corrado was looking good, sporting some Borbet Type A wheels, and lots of blacked out body pieces. One of the better looking Corrado’s I’ve seen in a while.
I wasn’t going to put a picture of my own car up, but a few people asked me to. So here it is.
Also, I couldn’t leave out that rolling wheel shot, for the sheer angle of the shot. Carina was probably more out of the car then she was in, when she took that one. All and all, this year’s opener was a blast as usual, and I’m looking forward to covering more Euro scene events for DODOlogic, whenever I can. Next up should be the BMW Club of Sask’s Euro Show, in July.
Thanks to Taylor VW for hosting the event and for the food as well!
