I want to start things off by saying what an awesome day this past Sunday was for all of us at DODOlogic. No one expected such a big turnout for an event so early in the season. I cannot wait to see what the Fallout meet has to offer, knowing the fact that a lot of cars weren’t finished- including one of mine. Personally the day ended up being sort of unfortunate with my brand new camera throwing a very serious code warranting a return to Brooklyn and not to mention a pretty serious sun burn! With 270+ cars showing up I couldn’t stay angry and fortunately I got to shoot Donavon’s 1989 Honda CRX before the infamous “Error 80” showed up. So small, so light, only 2 factory seats and a super clean status really tickles my Honda nerve and Donavon’s Honda did nothing but that.
The stock engine equipped with a cable transmission was swapped out for something a bit more peppy and up-to-date. Dropped in was a B18C1 from a 1995 Acura Integra GSR along with Hasport billet mounts, cable to hydro conversion kit and their famous shift linkage to utilize the Integra’s hydraulic transmission. Engine bolt-ons include a Skunk2 intake manifold, Super90 70mm throttle body, Hondata heat shield intake manifold gasket, STR cam gears, Fujitsubo 2 1/2″ cat back exhaust and an AEM intake system. Adding a bit more freshness to the bay is a carbon fiber spark plug cover hiding his Apexi wires, Downstar/Bolt Boys Version 3 EF beauty washers and hardware along with a T1R master cylinder cover.
Holding down the JDM-ness of the car is a front end conversion, rear bumper, taillights and SiR rear emblem, front seats, sun visors and floor mats all from the land of the rising sun.
Keeping the Honda’s unibody and our rough Saskatchewan roads separated is a Skunk2 front strut bar, what Donavon calls a “random” rear strut bar, Skunk2 Pro-S coilovers, Skunk2 rear lower control arms and ASR subframe brace all dressed up with Skunk2 washers and hardware. Aftermarket unsprung weight consists of 15″ Axis Old School wheels, C-West lug nuts and 195/50 profile tires.
Inside the CRX Autometer volts and fuel/air gauges and an Apexi V-tec controller dress up the super clean interior a bit. Factoring in a Tomei shifter and Momo steering wheel the interior is about as clean as any 23 year old interior could be. In fact, the entire car is about as clean as any 23 year old car could be. Donavon’s CRX is definitely something for the Honda nuts to drool over and it is definitely something you won’t see every day in such condition.
Thanks guys!!!!
Too bad he sold it only 3 days after.
Ya, that does kinda suck. I owned it for 7 years. It will be missed. I will still be working on for the new owner. Now i get to finish the other 2 builds.
Just gorgeous!
