The sounds of engines revving, tires squealing and the aroma of fresh rubber being burned filled the air of Evergreen Speedway. To quote Kermit the Frog, “Is this the sweet sound that called the young sailors?” No this isn’t the Rainbow Connection; this is drifting in the Pacific Northwest at Nissan Fest.It had been a while since I had been to a drift event, I was super pumped to see Ian Fournier from Drift Safari in the Fatlace R32. It is always a pleasure to see him do business.
I didn’t really know what was happening during the event, but that was my own fault as I had tuned out the loud speakers and turned most of my attention to this super clean Kouki styled S13.
Smoke bellowed from tires and all was right in the world of Nissan.
Everyone who was on that track went hard.
Role reversal – this little pig nose huffed and puffed and blew right over those cones.
Devan learned a lot about not flinching on this day. I think it is safe to say he is all growns up now.
This car was maybe the biggest surprise of the day. I don’t think I have ever seen a 300ZX throw down this hard. Even more surprising it is powered by an SR20DET.
For good measure, here is another shot of it.
This S13 was magic, it was hard to point your camera and not get a decent shot.
At the end of the day when it was time to pack up, I watched Eric Z. of Hot Boyz Drift and Shawn Browne of Drift Union use fire instead of knife. It was as if Prometheus himself just handed these two men the gift of fire.
I am notoriously bad for not eating when at events. So after the event, us and the Art of Stance Crew stopped at Carl Jr.’s for dinner, Bill seemed unsure of the decision.
Apparently the fast food didn’t come fast enough. So to kill time I took pictures while Richard flaunted his media credentials that he had been issued at the last minute that morning.
A burger, fries, some words and pictures are what we have to show for our 13 hour day. Was it worth it? Well there was Guac on my burger and sliding cars, it was a good day at the races.
