Welcome to Monday morning! And what would a Rundown be without me talking about the weather? So here I go again. It’s time to get your cars out of storage because the snow is gone and hopefully it will stay gone. That being said, It is also time we got this thing started……
The 2012 Formula One season started up in Melbourne this past weekend and for the most part it didn’t disappoint. The one thing that was made completely clear by the time the race was over was that it is going to be a Red Bull vs. McLaren fight all year with both teams filling the top 4 positions as follows:
1. Button – McLaren
2. Vettel – Red Bull
3. Hamilton – McLaren
4. Webber – Red Bull

Now for a little TMZ’ing here on the Rundown. I thought Lewis Hamilton and Nicole ‘Pussycat Doll’ Scherzinger split up back in the fall? Pretty sure that was her shown on camera during the podium celebrations. Maybe in the coming weeks I should do a Top 10 list of hot women doing race car drivers.

Malaysia is next up on the calendar for Formula One. That race takes place next weekend at the awesome Sepang Circuit in Kuala Lumpur.

This year’s IndyCar season kicks off this weekend as well in Florida on the streets of St. Petersberg. I was just looking at the schedule and was surprised that only 5 of the 16 dates are being raced on ovals. I used to despise IndyCar and IRL because of the heavy oval schedule.

The first race of the Inaugural season of the FIA World Endurance Championship took place on Saturday at Sebring. They raced 12-hours and the Audi R18 TDI LMP of Audi Sport Team Joest took top spot on the podium.

Formula Drift’s first champion is calling it quits, at least for this year, while he figures out why no one wants to sponsor him. The Crazy Swede Sam Hubinette first lost Mopar a couple of years ago and now BF Goodrich has dropped out of the drift scene which leaves Sam without a major sponsor for his drifting program. Never fear though, he is still going to do the demo circuit and will try and squeeze a weekend or two of Formula D if he has the time. What will probably happen though is you will see him full time on the Global RallyCross schedule in the new Dodge Dart.

And last but not least, if you haven’t already heard, keep your calendar open on April 22nd as DODOlogic will be hosting the 2nd Annual Defrost Spring Meet here in Regina. We are still ironing out a few details on the venue but we will most likely have official times and places for you in the next few days.
Maldonado crashed on the last lap being 6th :'( Would’ve gotten more points than they did all last season.
