Well it is the morning after the Superbowl. I will be completely honest with you, I couldn’t give a shit about the NFL. I can’t explain why, but I have never been interested in following it. That being said, I enjoy the Superbowl. Why? Well because of everything that goes on around it like the commercials and wardrobe malfunctions. The automakers are always putting out fun stuff in the way of commercials. So today we will talk a bit about that and some other stuff that is going on in the auto world. Let’s begin……..
Everyone up here in Canuckland usually tries to watch an American feed of the game to that they can see the ‘good’ commercials. Well it seems like Canadian companies are starting to dream up commercials that are made for the Superbowl and for the Canadian broadcast. Shaw Communications probably had the most elaborate one that I saw which consisted of a police chase with television viewers strapped to the roof. It turns out the stunt drivers are some well known names to the drifting/motosports world. Rhys Millen is driving the lead car while Stephan Verdier is in one of the Crown Victorias. Check it out.

Manabu Orido has some tricks up his sleeve for this years D1 Season. He will be using a new GT-86 chassis with a 2UR-GSE in the place of the factory H-plant. If you aren’t familiar with the 2UR-GS motor we can tell you it is the 5.0L V8 found in the Lexus ISF.

On the topic of engine swaps and drift cars, a bit closer to home Shawn Hawley has a new chassis and he is putting an LS V8 in it. Could it be the first ever LS-swap into a Chaser? Shawn may be able to answer that for us.

A whole whack of F1 cars were unveiled this past week and the critics all think they are ugly. Haven’t F1 cars always been ‘ugly’. I don’t know, I guess it is a form vs. function thing. 🙂

I know I probably sound like a broken record, but I will remind all of our local Saskatchewanians that we are hosting a night of pool and drinks on Saturday February 18th at the Broken Rack here in Regina. Come out and enjoy good company.

Rally Sweden runs this upcoming weekend in Sweden of course. Still no word on what the f*ck Mr. Block is doing this year. I thought he was a marketing genius?

Sam Hubinette looks like he will be taking the wheel of a new Dodge Dart in the 2012 Global Rallycross Championship. Not much other news coming from the GRC Camp though.
