From the time that I finished last Monday’s Rundown until right now as I write this version, I have been sick to the bone. It has been a week of laying on my back doing not much more than watching Steve Wilkos and taking medicine between bouts of fever and frequent trips to the bathroom. Otherwise the week has flown by and guess what? Nothing too exciting happened and I don;t have the will/energy to get too deep into things this morning. We have some Dakar, a little drifting and a whole lotta motorcycles. Yes that is correct. Motorcycles and motorcycle related stuff makes it’s way into the Rundown. Let’s begin………
For all of you people in the Regina area. DODOlogic is hosting a little get together at the Broken Rack in the Golden Mile Mall on Saturday, February 18th at 7:00pm. We have rented the whole upstairs area of the pool hall so the local community can get together and talk cars and bullshit before spring comes around. So come out, play some pool on us, and have a couple drinks. For more information: http://www.dodologic.com/?p=9264

While weathering my flu/cold/sickness the past week I re-watched a couple older television specials/series I had saved from a few years back. ‘Long Way Round’ and ‘Long Way Down’ both have English actor Charlie Boorman and Scottish actor Ewan McGreggor riding some beefy expedition-spec BMW motorcyles. ‘Long Way Round’ takes them from London to New York via Kazakhstan, Mongolia and Russia while ‘Long Way Down’ takes the duo from the northern tip of Scotland down through Africa to Capetown South Africa. Pretty cool stuff and lots of tough off-roading. You should check them out if you ever get the chance.

Still on the Motorcycles, Suzuki Superbike Rider John Hopkins had a nagging finger injury that threatened his 2012 Superbike season. After six surgeries and months of pain and rehab he came up with the above solution that he posted to Twitter on Friday. That’s messed. Not that he chose to amputate his finger, but that he has girly hands.

Even more motorcycle related stuff, this time in the form of a video. I saw this on local enthusiast Brandon Z’s Facebook this morning. What we have is a GEO Metro with a GSX-R motor transplanted. And yes it is local to Regina. The funny thing is I saw this car back in the fall and could not for the life of me figure out what was sticking out of the hood. Now I know. If anyone knows who the owner is, please have him contact us. We would like to chat with him. 🙂

The 2012 Dakar Rally wrapped up Sunday in Peru after 2 weeks of racing through South America. Mini captured 3 of the top five spots at the end of the race with Stephane Peterhansel capturing the top spot on the podium in his X-Raid Mini Countryman. This is Peterhansel’s 10th time winning the Dakar Rally. The first six times were on a motorcycle and the last 4 in a car. American Robby Gordon finished 5th in his Hummer.

The 2012 XDC Schedule has been released and it would look as if PGP up in the northwest isn’t going to be included this year. Once again XDC comes north to Canada for a dual DMCC/XDC event in September.
