This week myself and fellow DODOlogic contributor Kyle Ermel had a chance to visit with Dave of Just Dave’s Hot Rods. When Regina, Saskatchewan comes to mind, your first thought usually isn’t of nice cars. One may instead think of flat prairies, hot summers, and long cold winters. But Regina is home to many car enthusiasts and respectable car builders, Dave being one of them.
Dave started out just like most of us did, someone who liked cars, enjoyed pulling wrenches, and turning his vehicles into something of his own. He began painting his own vehicles which eventually turned into the odd side job. The work kept coming and about 15 years ago he began painting professionally. Over the last five years Dave has begun doing full restorations which average about a year from start to finish.
When you take the time to look at his work it’s not hard to see just how much attention to detail he has. There’s not much if anything that’s not touched during a full restoration.
Dave’s owned a very large number of vehicles over the years. Everything from imports such as a first generation Honda CRX and a Nissan 300zx to domestics like the Lincoln he is currently working on. He has a lot of respect for people with imagination and knows a good car when he sees one. I always find that the most knowledgeable people are always the most down to earth, and he is no exception.
