Perhaps you have seen the video, or perhaps you have not. If you have not – please allow me to explain. This Subaru set an all time fastest lap on the Isle of Man TT Mountain course. This is a pretty impressive feat as the original was set 21 years ago.
The driver Mark Higgins averaged a speed of 115.356 MPH on the 37.8 long course and hit speeds as high as 162 MPH. This speed shattered the old average speed of 100 MPH and only took Mark 19 minutes and 37 seconds to complete.
So if my Canadian thinking translates this properly, that means he managed to gain an average of an extra 24 km/h over a 60 km course. What actually makes this real impressive is that is was done with near stock STi. The car was fitted with a race seat and cage for safety and the brake pads were upgraded. They also turned off the speed limiter and added an open exhaust.
The only other thing that was changed were the springs and dampers, so that it could take high speed jumps. So maybe not near stock, but pretty close too.
If you would like to see the video, have at it.
I remember watching the video and being in awe. lol. Plus, gotta love the Sedan haha
just goes to show you how far the automotive standards have come, with some “small” upgrades your everyday driver can be out slaying the mountains! ha!
How the hell did I miss the H&R booth that was right next to this? I was looking for it for 2 days.
