This weekend in marked the seventh run of the Edmonton Indy, the first under the new Octane motorsports group. With a brand new track layout came some very interesting performances across four different categories of motor sports .
The track layout has changed from previous years, making a more challenging infield for drivers and a more exciting race for the fans. The first of four was the IZOD Indy car series. The open practice on Friday was cancelled due to rain, however, the drivers we’re able to quickly adapt to the new course. The Saturday and Sunday sessions delivered an amazing race. Will Power would be the best of the field, but more on this later.
Under the IZOD Indy cars we’re the Indy lites. This was the closest race of the whole weekend with drivers going up to as much as five wide into the first turn of the track!
One of the most interesting racing class was the Eurisa Cup. It’s not often you find an Alfa , Volvo, Ford Fiesta and a 7.1 Litter V8 RX7 racing each other!! Look for a in-depth look at this amazing series coming shortly.
Of course the best for last, our crazy over-steer obsessed friends at the DMCC put on a huge demo over the weekend at the Indy that saw some amazing drifting and a chance for fans to get up-close and personal with the cars and drivers. Stick around because there’s a lot more to come!!
