As promised, here are some of the shots I managed to grab during my time at Pacific Grand Prix. Being that I first drifted on a cart track, I felt almost at home at PGP. It’s beautiful landscaping and unique backdrop make it a great time. Not to mention the cars sliding around on it. There were many drivers, all of them with their own driving styles and skill levels, this made it a great watch. As always, I like to keep things simple. So pictures it is!
To kick things off, here is a snap of thee Walker Wilkerson. The Forumla D driver had his personal S14 240SX at the event, and was “killing it”. It was neat to see him with chrome dish and camber, being that his competition car is now focused on function.
He was really showing his talent on this first entry. Always lots of angle!
This turbo’d 240 was making great smoke all afternoon.
This is STI is always a crowd favorite, as he links the track with him and 3 buddies along for the ride. Here is one more for good measure!
This 20V 4AG swapped Toyota Celica was a blast to watch as that NA motor screamed! Gotta love the old school.
4 doors always look at home when they are sideways.
This minty S13 240 was one of the cars setting the bar for how a run should be done at PGP, the cop lights were a real eye catcher, if the beautiful two tone wasn’t enough!
There will always be a place in my heart for E30s. This particular one, put on a great show! Great entries!
This car definitely was one of my favorites. Combining two things that I love dearly… An S14 and a 2JZ. The turbo spool, wastegate scream and banging rev limiter was a combination that disappointed no one. I had chills every time he ran.
Here is Logan Noel in his Subaru Legacy on one of many flawless runs. Of course where this Subaru is, you are sure to find two other fantastic drivers and cars. Shawn Browne in his Mazda RX7 and last but not least Steve Tomphson in his Toyota Soarer. Drift Union is their name, and tandem drifting is their game!
I apologize for the oddly sized pictures but there are 3 of them!
We will end on that note. I’m sure I am not alone when say , I can’t wait to be back at PGP. Great track, great driving, great time! I will have another post soon with shots of some of the cars in the pits that I wasn’t able to get drifting.
