There really wasn’t much going this past weekend in the world of Motorsports. I think maybe the Easter weekend is somewhat to blame for that. What that means for you this morning is a quick overview of what took place over the weekend…..
First I will remind everyone that is in the Southern Saskatchewan area that May 8th is Mother’s day. May 8th is also ‘Defrost’, our first crack at trying to get the automotive enthusiast community together for an afternoon of checking out rides and shooting the shit. We didn’t schedule it on Mother’s Day knowing it was Mother’s day but we found out after that it was indeed Mother’s day. So bring your mom’s if you wish.

With the recent seizure of several online Poker sites, Joon Maeng’s Bergenholtz Racing RX-8 has lost it’s support from Full Tilt Poker. What will happen now is anyone’s guess.

Formula D’s first round in Long Beach turned out to be a huge success and a popular one at that. Over 16,000 fans made it out to make it the best attended round in series history. Online, 289,000 viewers took in the action on Driftstream. Next on the schedule is May 6th and 7th at Road Atlanta.

Round 2 of the 2011 XDC Series took Place in Arizona Saturday. Canadian Dave Briggs placed fourth after everything was run. The Podium looked like this:

A future addition to the drifting landscape was unveiled at the New York international auto show this past week. The Toyota FT-86 project made it’s debut in it’s Scion FR-S Trim.

Tanner Foust was in Washington state last weekend winning Round 2 of the Global RallyCross Championship. This weekend he was in England taking part in Round 1 of the FIA European RallyCross Championship. Tanner had the fastest official timed practice run on Saturday and ended up placing fourth after the first round of heats Sunday. The rest if the competition takes place today at the Lydden Hill Race Circuit.

PIETRA LIGURE, ITALY (AP) —Polish Formula One driver Robert Kubica has left the hospital 11 weeks after suffering severe injuries during a rally crash.
The Santa Corona hospital in the northern Italian town of Pietra Ligure announced the news late Saturday, saying “his condition is good and the (driver) will begin a new phase of rehabilitation outside of the hospital.”
After the Feb. 6 accident, Kubica underwent seven hours of surgery to save his right hand before operations on his shoulder, leg and elbow.
He has been replaced by German driver Nick Heidfeld on the Renault team this season.
The hospital adds that Kubica will come back for visits to be monitored by the doctors who treated him.
