So I have been hammering this RallyCross thing into your heads for well over a month now. The truth is I didn’t even really know that this sort of thing existed until I was lucky enough to attend, while on my honeymoon, the Rally event at X-games in 2007. While it wasn’t RallyCross at the time it was still a ‘head to head’ special stage type setup inside and outside of the Home Depot Center.
On that day I saw a still relatively unknown Tanner Foust win the X-games gold against Ken Block in the final. I was also lucky enough to see Colin McRae in what would end up being his last competitive driving event before his tragic death in a helicopter accident.
After I got home I did some research on the cars and discovered that they were, for the most part, built with RallyCross in mind. The rest is history. I started watching video after video of RallyCross events in Europe and needless to say I have been following the birth of the sport on this side of the Atlantic very closely.
So now I will stop boring you with my fanboy rants and present to you the final heat of Saturday’s event as seen from the roof of Tanner’s Ford Fiesta courtesy of GT Channel.
Funny, I was at that X-Games 2007 Rally Event too.
small world 🙂
Weird! What is even more weird is that we didn’t bump into each other at SEMA this year. 🙂
