Here in Saskatchewan it is COLD. After the melting last week we are back in the deep freeze for at least a little while longer. Car season is upon us and if you are reading from the west coast it seems that car season never ends. Lucky you.
Let’s get going here……
Starting off with some drifting news, it apears that Cellblock D out in the Vancouver area is back up and running after a a short hiatus. Events will take place just outside ove Vancouver at Agassiz Speedway. The first event of the season is February 27th. More more info check out http://www.cellblockd.org

Spec-D in Calgary also announced their events for this year and have also started up a blog to keep the community informed of what is going on. Check them out at http://spec-dcalgary.blogspot.com/

In Japan Keiichi Tsuchiya and Daijiro Inada have announced their new series/company called ‘Drift Enterprise’. Not much else is known at this point except Inada is the President of the new company.

The opening round of the 2011 Formula 1 season in Bahrain is in jeopardy due to the protests that have been plaguing the small country. It is expected there will be an anouncement of the cancellation of the event sometime in the next few days.

Nick Heidfeld is back in the F1 field after being announced as Robert Kubica’s replacement, atleast for the time being. Heidfeld’s contract is written in a way that he may be released at anytime throughout the season if Kubica is ready to return.

I’m not sure how many of our readers watch the CBC for a little show called The Dragon’s Den. If you do, you saw the guys behind the HTT Plethore pitching the supercar to the Dragons this past Wednesday. In the end Saskatchewan’s own Brett Wilson and IT Security mogul Robert Herjavec invested $1 million dollars and $500,000 in loans in exchange for a 20% share in the company and three cars at cost including the first car to be sold in Canada.

Finland’s Juha Kankkunen set a new world speed record on ice in a convertible Bentley Continental Supersports. The record run took place just off the coast of Finland on the Baltic Sea. Watch the video to see how it all went down.

There has been lots of interesting stuff about the Lexus LFA this past week. First we found out that Paris Hilton received an LFA for her birthday. I wonder if it is sitting in a paint booth right now waiting for some pink paint?
——-
Also a video popped up on the net showing the LFA’s animated instrument cluster during a launch using the car’s launch control. Wow.
——-
And to top it all off Autoblog had a little story about the shipping method in which the LFA finds it way to the homeland of it’s new owners. Check the story out here: http://www.autoblog.com/2011/02/18/lexus-lfa-ship-import-uncrate/

That is all for this week. Remember that we will be streaming the Formula D UAE Invitational this weekend starting really early Saturday morning. We will try and remember to post up a reminder on the page to let you know exactly what time to watch.
