First and foremost the team here at DODOlogic would like to thank all of our readers for visiting the site over the past year. When DODOlogic was conceived the motivation was to promote the local automotive/drifting scene here in Regina and Saskatchewan as a whole. Little did we know we would be trying to expand our reaches further west so quick. In the past year we have added three more photographers, one being from Alberta, to our staff.
Our daily readership has grown by just over 300% compared to the same time last year and while the final visit tally isn’t quite here yet, we have already eclipsed the 108,000 mark. So what does this tell us? Basically what we are delivering is being consumed by our visitors. We must be doing something right because you are coming back day after day. (Even though it may still be a little rough around the edges.)
This past year saw DODOlogic cover various local automotive shows and meets. We also traveled and brought you coverage of Cruise Weekend in Saskatoon and the Driven show in Calgary. While getting together and checking out the ‘hard parkers’ is always a good time what we probably enjoyed most in the last year was the drifting.
Let’s be honest. We here at DODOlogic LOVE drifting. So naturally there is lots of drifting related material on these pages. This past year we attended DMCC WEST events in Calgary and Edmonton, the Autoclearing Speedway Demo in Saskatoon and even Ryan Benoit made it down to Formula D in Las Vegas.
Locally here in Southern Saskatchewan we promoted and organized the ‘Drift-Away Camp’ weekend which was sanctioned by the QCMA. To say the weekend was ‘Epic’ is an understatement. Saturday started of as gloomy and cold and by afternoon it was a full fledged monsoon dumping buckets of rain along with ample doses of lightning and thunder. Saturday evening involved a ‘get together’ at Ryan B’s parents house while they were away for the weekend. Let’s just say that they weren’t too impressed when they returned home. Sunday continued to be cold and gloomy, but instead of rain we had gale force winds. The good thing about the wind was that it dried the track. Unfortunately the infield dirt didn’t dry quite a quickly. Everything considered it was a weekend to remember, and most importantly it brought the drift community together.
In November several of us attended the SEMA Show in Las Vegas. While at the show we gathered a lot of information that will show up on the site in the form of content in the coming months. DODOlogic secured media credentials and was there beside other members of the international media forwarding information to the masses. We talked to the manufacturers, sat in on press conferences and made several connections with important figures in the industry. Hopefully what this means to you is more original content in the future.
Adam, Tyler and Adrian even managed to stumble into photos on one of our favorite sites.
In all reality 2010 was our freshman campaign. In 2011 we will be striving to bring more of the ‘scene’ to you wherever you may be. Watch for new fixtures to the blog to compliment the popular ‘Wacky Wheel Wednesdays’. Also, as always, if you know of an event, or a car, or something else you think we should share with the world let us know. Send us an email with the details and we can go from there.
Once again we would all like to thank you for taking the time to visit the site and we wish you all the best in 2011!
