Last fall we made mention of a Canadian Drifter by the name of Dave Briggs after his S14 was found gracing the cover of the November 2009 issue of Modified Magazine. After qualifying 2nd yesterday for the inaugural event of the Xtreme Drift Circuit at Irwindale Speedway in sunny California, he went on today to claim first place and the top of the podium!
The Xtreme Drift Circuit was established last fall as a PRO/AM feeder series to Formula D. The top drivers from each event earn invites to the FormulaD PRO/AM National Championship. Also worth noting is that the top three drivers at the end of the series all earn their Formula D Pro License for the 2011 season. All-in-all XDC may prove to be an interesting series for us Canadians to watch now that Dave Briggs looks to be making waves early on.
And if Mr. Briggs isn’t reason enough to follow the new XDC, how about the one and only Nick Hogan? It looks like Nick has signed on to take part in the series. While his his tubocharged 350Z wasn’t ready for round one, he will be ready for Round 2 in Las Vegas. Interesting that he is using the season to promote a charity that promotes seat belt use and keeping racing on the track. It should be interesting to say the least.
