So here it is, the final portion of my two-part article. I will be going through some meets and photo shoots.
I don’t know what it is about car photography but when I purchased my D-SLR, I was instantly captivated with all the detail involved. Things like the time of day, composition and exposure all affect a car picture. Learning the ins and outs while honing your skills takes a while. I am still learning all the wonders of Photoshop and to be quite honest my favourite part of the whole process is getting home after a shoot and editing the pics. Not a single picture I take doesn’t go through post-processing of some sort but without a doubt my automotive shoots go through the most rigorous editing. Multiple exposures and layer masks are used 100% of the time with static shots, thankfully shooting drift and drag events don’t require all the editing to make such an impact.
Now on to the pictures!
Quite possibly the cleanest FD I have ever seen in my life is owned by a guy named Gage. Luckily Luis bumped into him at the local north end car wash on before he met up with me for another photo shoot.
Luis is on the left, mine is on the right. As you can see Luis is a bit lower with one-inch larger wheels but since his car is in Saskatoon I may actually be the lowest EJ1 in the city. This makes me happy! I plan on getting new rims and going lower this upcoming summer.
One of my top 3 shoots of all time is Mark Barnard’s R33 GTR look-alike, shot just north of Regina headed to Saskatoon.
In my opinion Joe’s Volkswagen is the coolest in the city, definitely one of my favourite cars I have ever shot!
Jordan Bod’s GTR. So clean.
It was a good day when I first saw Corey’s LS1 powered 240 and Jordan’s SR20 powered Miata for the first time!
My two most favourite shots I took at 3 Flags when they still supported drifting.
The local favourite, Tyler Prill’s 370Z all carbon fibered out.
My first look at the new Subaru STI in real life.
My last formal shoot of 2010 with Kyle Zimmer and his GTS-T drift machine. As always representing DODOlogic.
Here’s a pic of all the cars that showed up for QCA’s end of the season meet at Fountain Tire on Henderson.
Well, that’s the end. Thanks for looking and keep in tune for more shoots and articles!
great article, great shots, cant wait to see what lies in 2011!
